Tarion Warranty

The Tarion Warranty in Ontario covers new homes and condominiums for up to seven years. The warranty is broken down into different coverage periods:

  1. One-Year Warranty:

    • Protects against defects in workmanship and materials.
    • Ensures the home meets Ontario Building Code standards.
    • Covers unauthorized substitutions of materials.
  2. Two-Year Warranty:

    • Covers defects in electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
    • Protects against water penetration through the basement or foundation walls, defects in the building envelope, and problems with exterior cladding like brick or siding.
    • Ensures the home is fit for occupancy and meets Ontario Building Code health and safety regulations.
  3. Seven-Year Warranty:

    • Covers major structural defects that could impact the safety or usability of the home.

These warranties start on the date of possession.
